NESTLÉ PROFESSIONAL ANNOUNCES TOQUE D’OR FINALISTS
And then there were five! Nestlé Professional has revealed the five teams going through to the Grand Finals of the prestigious Nestlé Toque d’Or student catering competition.
16 college teams from across the UK battled it out in the Toque d’Or kitchens at Hotelympia to deliver a winning combination of culinary talent and exceptional service. Having made it through the initial paper-judging round, competitors were challenged with preparing and serving a three-course meal, on time and to perfection - under the discerning eyes of an international judging panel.
Carlisle College, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, North Devon College, Glasgow Metropolitan College and South Kent College are all going through to the Grand Finals, to be held at a secret destination in June, 2008.
Martin Lines, Marketing Director, Nestlé Professional says – “All five teams really brought innovative menus to life through inspirational teamwork, preparation and seamless delivery. From first-time entrant South Kent to established teams - each stood out in terms of their professionalism and skill. They brought through incredible flavours, under the remit of healthy menus and demonstrated real partnership both front and back of house.”
But the race isn’t over yet! The heats may be behind them but the greatest challenge still lies ahead for finalists. Students know only that they will be tasked with serving 100 diners at their unique ‘place to eat’ in June.
